Children Learn to Ride Program with Banff Trail Riders

Kids between the ages of 3 and 7 years old can now join in the cowboy fun by going on a 15-minute horse ride at our Warner Stables or Banff Springs Corrals locations.

They will learn the basics of horseback riding such as mounting a horse and holding onto the reins. And if your child has never been up close to one of these friendly animals before, now’s the chance to give them an introduction.

This experience is on a first come, first served basis, and is subject to availability.

The ride is for 15 minutes.
Your child will learn the basics of horseback riding such as mounting a horse and holding onto the reins, as well as the opportunity to introduce your child to horses if they have never been up close to one before.
Pony leads are available at Warner Stables and the Banff Springs Corrals in Banff.

Warner Stables is the the big red stables located at the end of Sundance Road in Banff. When you arrive, please check-in for your ride at the office in the east barn where you’ll see signs for ‘Warner Stables’ and ‘office’. There is plenty of free parking at the site. The Banff Springs Corrals are on Spray Avenue and are located before the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel and behind the tennis courts.

This experience is available on a first come, first served basis during stables during operating hours, subject to availability.
Pony leads available on a first come, first served basis only, payable on-site at the stables.
Children must wear sturdy, closed toed shoes and long pants are best for riding. Please note that sandals of any kind are not permitted. Helmets are provided and are mandatory for all riders and mosquito repellent is highly recommended.
No experience is necessary and your child will be paired with a friendly horse.
Gratuities are customary and very much appreciated.

  • Pony leads are for children aged 3 years to 7 years.
  • Please note that children will not be paired with an adult – they must ride their own horse.
  • For safety purposes helmets are mandatory to be worn by all riders.
  • Riders must wear sturdy closed toed shoes – no open toe shoes or shoes with big heels.
  • A waiver must be completed by the parent or legal guardian of any legal guardian of any rider under the age of 18 (documentation may be required to confirm the signatory’s authority).
